SILVER SWANS

Start your Silver Swans journey

Silver Swans®️ classes are specifically designed for over 55s and delivered exclusively by Silver Swans®️ Licensees, who have trained to safely adapt ballet techniques for older adults. These are real ballet steps, giving you the chance to express yourself through music, learn something new and socialise. All ages and abilities are welcome -whether you are a complete novice or an experienced dancer.

More than a Ballet Class

We believe the social side is just as important as the actual dancing itself, so we make sure there’s time in every one of our Silver Swans®️ classes for people to chat and catch up with each other. Our friendly classes help reduce loneliness and enable people to make new friends. We organise lots of opportunities to socialise away from the dance studio -anything from a cuppa after class to specially organised events and trips away.

So join us for the Complete Ballet experience and begin to improve your dance-life balance!

How does dancing make you feel?

Dance has many health benefits and it can play a vital role in ensuring a longer and better quality of life, which is one of the main reasons why the Royal Academy of Dance developed Silver Swans®️. It’s also about having fun and enjoying the sense of well-being that dance brings.

Chair based Ballet

These lessons use specially adapted ballet steps that can be done whilst seated in a chair. They’re great for anyone with mobility problems or injures or for days where your body feels too tired for much else. Improve your posture, muscle strength and mood whilst moving to beautiful music -you’ll not even realise you’ve been exercising! Classes are followed by time to socialise over a cup of tea.

Classes are held on Tuesdays 10-10.30am at:

Cleadon Methodist Church Hall
8 Sunderland Road
Cleadon
Sunderland
SR6 7UT
